I read somewhere on the web in my searches for my ancestors that Hackbarth roughly translates into "hack the beard" or in other words a barber. So I looked it up in my sons German English dictionary. If you take the word and divide it "Hacken" means to chop and "Bart" means beard or whiskers. I think this is so interesting!
