Hi and thanks so much for taking the time to give me the information. I think the John Odom referred to in the article may be John B. Odom, born 1863 in Tattnall County. John married my GG Aunt, Mary D. Rowland/Roland in Tattnall County in 1864. That is intially what sparked my interest in this family and the connection between the Hackles and the Rolands. Mary was born in 1870 in Madison County, Va., her parents were William Henry Rowland and Ann Elisa Knight. William married Ann in Madison County, Va. in 1864 during the Civil War, which is what brought him there to begin with. They had 2 children, James Louis (my GG Grandfather) and Mary D. William decided to bring his little family back to his homeland late in 1869 or early 1870 but sadly, Ann died enroute. William then married a widow woman, Maryann Floyd Harden. I have traced William's parents as Isaac Rowland and Winnie Becksley/Baxley but have been unable to go any further back. Clues to this family are few and far between. I was hoping the link between Carrie and the Rowlands may give another little clue. I will check for them in the 1900 census and keep plugging away but thanks so much for your help and take care......Sandra
