Hi folks, well here I am 6 yrs later and am only now reading the followup to my original post - I'm still mucking around with Haddows.
I am more trying to get a clear picture on the history/ownership of Easterseat Carluke. This is what I've pieced together so far, as my best guess:
John Haddow of Easterseat died Apr1727 (I have his Will)
John Haddow m Marion Martine
Son: Thomas c1715
Thomas Haddow m Janet Forest 1743
Son: John Haddow b.1744
John Haddow m 1772 Betty Roberton
Daughher: Janet Haddow/Fell b.1779 Easterseat (my
ggggrandmother)
Now somewhere in the mix is another John Haddow b 1762 or 1763 who married Elizabeth/Betty Hamilton.(Her father is William Hamilton)
The Hamiltons and the Haddows lived at or owned Easterseat at one time or another up to the time when it was inherited to My Janet m to William Fell, and her sister Mary Haddow.
It was sold to George Hamilton c 1829. There was actually a court case over it all in the 1840's.
I am gleaning piecemeal info from the posts, but I am finding it very difficult to put the story all together.
I would really appreciate more detailed information about any Haddows / Hamiltons from Carluke specifically Easterseat - please email me at: [email protected]
Thanks
