Yes, they are the same. George and Eliza Hagerman are listed in the 1850 Monmouth County Census as living in Oceanport. The 1851 map of Monmouth County even shows their house location. The 1850 Census lists Phebe, George's mother, as living with them. As you mentioned George died in mid 1850's, most likely of consumption. That is what his brother James died of, as did a few other of their family members.

Do you have any further information on George's parents?
