Abraham Hagle & Mary "Polly" Williams

In 2001 there was some discussion on here about ABRAHAM HAGLE m. 12 November 1815 MARY "Polly" WILLIAMS in Floyd County KY. It is written that they had 10 children born mostly in Ohio, then the family removed to Illinois. I am interested in MARY "Polly" WILLIAMS. I am a descendant of EDWARD WILLIAMS of Prince William County VA who migrated to the Virginia wilderness (Boonesborough) on the Caintuck River in 1779. EDWARD WILLIAMS had sons DANIEL, JOSHUA & CALEB. The EDWARD WILLIAMS family settled on Lulbegrud Creek in Fayette County VA which became Clark County and then Montgomery County KY. EDWARD WILLIAMS d. 1804 Montgomery County KY. CALEB stayed in Montgomery County KY until 1818 and then removed to Missouri. DANIEL & JOSHUA removed to Floyd County KY where DANIEL died 1820. JOSHUA WILLIAMS was in Floyd County until sometime between 1820 and the 1830 census from which he seems to be missing (it is claimed that he died BEF 1830...this is NOT certain...he may have left the state). It has been claimed by some HAGLE researchers & some WILLIAMS researchers that MARY "Polly" WILLIAMS HAGEL was the daughter of DANIEL WILLIAMS & (Mary?) VIOLET COUCH of Floyd County KY. This poses a problem. DANIEL & (Mary?) VIOLET COUCH WILLIAMS did have a daughter named MARY...recent research appears to show that this MARY was MARY EMILY "Polly" WILLIAMS married JOSEPH DAVIS in Morgan County KY (Morgan County KY was cut from Floyd County after DANIEL WILLIAMS died 1820). I have no proof as to the parents of MARY "Polly" WILLIAMS HAGLE but I certainly feel, based on the names of her children, that she was strongly connected someway to the EDWARD WILLIAMS family. MARY "Polly" WILLIAMS HAGLE named her first child CATHERINE...I believe (no marriage record found) that JOSHUA WILLIAMS of Floyd s/o EDWARD was married to a CATHERINE. MARY "Polly" HAGLE named her second son JOSHUA...JOSHUA of Floyd s/o EDWARD had several daughters un-named or identified as yet (one daughter CATHERINE has been proven & one son EDWARD probable). MARY "Polly" WILLIAMS HAGLE named her second daughter JEMIMA...the parents of JOSHUA WILLIAMS of Floyd were EDWARD & JEMIMAH PROB CARTER WILLIAMS. MARY "Polly" WILLIAMS HAGLE named her third son DANIEL...DANIEL WILLIAMS of Floyd s/o EDWARD & JEMIMAH PROB CARTER was the brother of JOSHUA WILLIAMS of Floyd. I see no obvious connection to the rest of the children's names but it appears from the children named Catherine, Joshua, Jemima & Daniel that there might have been a STRONG connection to JOSHUA WILLIAMS of Floyd. JOSHUA WILLIAMS was b. BET 1766 & 1775 in Prince William County VA to EDWARD & JEMIMAH PROB CARTER WILLIAMS. Records show that he was with the family in Fayette, Clark & Montgomey County KY and on the 1810 Floyd County KY census with a wife & several children...he was still there in 1820 with a wife & children. The members of the ekywilliams@yahoogroups.com research & discussion group are working on JOSHUA WILLIAMS of Floyd in an attempt to determine & proof his wife & children. One of the HAGLE researchers said on here that she had MARY "Polly" WILLIAMS HAGLE'S family identified (without giving the specific info on here)...is it possible that MARY "Polly" WILLIAMS HAGLE was a daughter of JOSHUA WILLIAMS of Floyd County KY? Or is there PROOF that she was the daughter of DANIEL WILLIAMS of Floyd? Or the daughter of someone else? Lee Strohm Harrell
