Agnes's father Marderos had an older brother Garabed (Charles) Hagopian. Charles brought Marderos and Altoun with their baby daughter Mary to the United States by way of Canada. They then settled on a 200 acre plantation in Canterbury, CT. Garabed went to school to learn to read and write. He was married to Anna and their children were Annie, Esther, Alice and Armen. When they settled in Rehoboth, MA. their farm was only about a mile from Marderos and Altoun's farm. Garabeds and Marderos grandmother and grandfather's names were Altoun and Vartan.
