WILLIE HAIGH, BORN 1898, LEEDS
I have, today, decided to trace my family tree and am therefore inexperience in this field.I know my grandfather Willie Haigh b1898(approx)in Hunslet, Leeds and died approx 1960/61.Willie married Annie May McCarthy (Irish descendant).Willie (Bill)had 3 brothers, Fred, Clifford and Harry and one sister Annie. My grantfather was a musician, playing the piano and was the Lead Pit Tenor Singer at the Leeds City Varieties from being a young boy working with many celebraties such as Charlie Chaplin. He worked as a miner in the local pits and was laid off work for a number of years in the 1930's.I would very much like to know more about his/MY family, his parents are unknown to my mother. He was orphaned at around 9 years of age (reasons unknown).Willie had 2 daughters, Nora and Irene and a son called Dennis who died in an accident at the age of 25yrs.His daughter Irene (my mother) is the only sibling alive aged 72 years of age.If anyone has any further information, I would very much love to hear from you.
