Does anyone know this family? David Haines b. 1817 ME; d. aft 1880. In 1860, David was a laborer in Gardiner, ME. David Haines, age 44, of Gardiner, ME was mustered into Co. B, 16th Maine Inf Reg as a private on 14 Aug 1862. He was discharged 21 Apr 1863. These dates indicate that he was probably at the battles of Antietam and Fredericksburg. m1. Melissa Fletcher b. ca 1827; d. 1854-58. [On her daughter Martha’s death certificate she is listed as Melissia Fletcher. There are IGI entries for a Melissa and a Melinda who may be the same person. Meletiah is also possible though not listed anywhere.] Children: i David Haines b. 1845 ME (There is a David H. Haines listed in the 16th Maine Inf Reg and in the 2nd Maine Cav Reg. This is in addition to the elder David Haines shown above) ii Martha Ann Haines, b. 2 Dec 1848, Gardiner, ME; d. 16 Apr 1940, Richmond, ME; buried: 19 Apr 1940, Libby Hill Cemetery, Gardiner, ME; m. 25 Dec 1869, Samuel Lafayette Weeks b. 15 Nov 1843, Gardiner, ME; died 30 Jan 1891, Gardiner, ME. iii Joseph Haines b. 1854 ME; m. 10 Nov 1878 Wayne, Kennebec, ME to Minnie Norris (dau of Sawyer B.
