This has been driving me crazy. I am trying to find information on Sally A Haines 1813-1888, married to William Brandow b. abt 1825 from Greene County NY. William was the son of John Brandow (1790-1854).
John's will mentions 5 Brandow grandchildren but does not say who their parents are.
I assume they are the children of a deceased son (or sons) since their surname is Brandow:
They are:
John E. Brandow
Keziah Ann Brandow (Meggs)
Lucinda Brandow ( Mansfield ), born about 1831
George Brandow, born ca. 1832
Abi (Abigail) Brandow (Ingalls), born 1839, died 1906, Hunter, NY
Sally was 12 years older than William, so the children may be from a previous marriage for Sally. I am looking for their parents.
William is too young to be the children's father, and none of the other known sons of John Brandow are their father. I found 2 entries for Abi Brandow on Family Search. The first lists her parents as William Brandow and Sarah A. Haines, the other as William Brandow and Lucy (Unknown). William can't be Abi's father, unless he was 14 when she was born. So I suspect that either they were Sally's children from a previous marriage and took the Brandow surname, or there is another unknown son of John Brandow that died soon after Abigail was born. Any ideas??
