I am searching for information regarding the above-referenced couple. Marientha Haines, b. 7 Oct 1831 in Geneseo, NY, d/o (?) Haines and (?)(?). Marientha m. at age 16 (abt. 1847) Nehemiah "Brainard" Hubbard, b. abt. 1817 in (MA or CT - location varies between censuses), s/o Stephen S. Hubbard and Jemima Brooks. Nehemiah Brainard Hubbard d. abt. 1896 probably in MI. Marientha d. 20 Sept 1905 in Laketown Twp., Allegan Co., MI, and is buried in Riverside Cemetery there. In the transcription of this cemetery, there appears a W. B. Hubbard (I believe this is actually Brainard). Marientha's death certificate indicates that she died as a result of arteriosclerosis and she had a total of nine children with three living at the time of her death. Her daughter, Mary Hubbard Docking, gave the information for Marientha's death certificate. Stephen S. Hubbard, b. abt. 1789 in CT, s/o (?) Hubbard and (?)(?); d. in prob. Berrien Co., MI; buried Curtis-Smith Cemetery, Hagar Twp., Berrien Co., MI. Jemima Brooks, b. abt. 1795 in Haddam, Middlesex Co., CT, d/o Joseph Brooks and 1st wife Jemima Shaylor (several other spellings for Shaylor include Shailer, Shailor, and Shaler). Jemima d. aft. the 1880 Census and is also buried at Curtis-Smith Cemetery. Joseph Brooks and Jemima Shaylor had the following children (full siblings of Jemima Brooks): Rebecca Brooks who m. Nehemiah Brainard, Jr. (no children); Wakeman Brooks who m. 1st Anna Ely (5 children) and 2nd Caroline "Matilda" Rogers (4 children) (Anna and Matilda were 1st cousins thru the Flowers family); Catharine Shaylor Brooks who m. William Mather/Mathews (3 or more children). Joseph Brooks m. 2nd Martha Hubbard and had the following children (Jemima Brooks' 1/2 siblings): Joseph Brooks, Jr. who m. Sally Minier (3 children); David Brooks, who m. Maria Grace (9 children); Chauncey Brooks, who m. Betsey Grave (Maria's sister)(3 children); James Brooks, who m. Mary E. Eastman (5 children); Edward Brooks, m. 1st Sarah Burlison (no children); m. 2nd Adelaide Upham Sargeant, a widow (no children)(divorced), m. 3rd Fannie Brown (3 children); and Mary Brooks, who. m. Harvey Kellogg (4 children). In the 1850 Federal Census for Wheatfield, Niagara Co., NY, Nehemiah and Marientha are found in the household of S. S. MI 1870 Federal Census for Saugatuck Post Office, Laketown Twp., Allegan Co., MI taken 15 Aug 1870: 81/78 Hubbard, Nehemiah; white; male; married; age 53; b. MA; farmer Hubbard, Marentha; white; female; married; age 39; b. NY; keeps house Hubbard, Francis; white; male; single; age 16; b. PA; at school Hubbard, Charles; white; male; single; age 6; b. NY Hubbard, Francis; son; white; male; single; age 26; farm laborer; b. PA; father b. CT; mother b. NY Hubbard, Charles; son; white; male; single; age 15; at home; b. MI; father b. CT; mother b. NY Hubbard, Mary; daughter; white; female; single; age 13; at home; b. MI; father b. CT; mother b. NY Charlie Hubbard, b. 10 Feb 1865 in MI, d. 10 Aug 1907 in Casco Twp., Allegan Co., MI. He m. abt. 1897 Minnie (?) and had two children at the time of his death. His death certificate states that his father was Brainard Hubbard b. in MA, and his mother was Marientha Haines b. in NJ. Minnie gave the details for the death certificate. Their residence is indicated as Kibbie, MI. Nehemiah Brainard Hubbard had the following siblings: Norton Hubbard, b. 9 May 1811 in MA; d. Michigan City, IN; m. 13 Mar 1842 in MA, Emily Bodurtha, b. 2 Mar 1810 in Agawam, MA; d. Michigan City, IN; children: Calvin, Joseph, Emma and Frank. Lived for a time in VanBuren Co., MI. Harriet Hubbard, b. abt. 1812 in PA; m. 1st Mr. VanSlyke; 2nd Mr. Anguish; 3rd Mr. Wright; children: unknown; settled in MI Wakeman B. Hubbard, b. in MA; d. Springfield Twp., Bradford Co., PA; m. Lurena Merrit; children: Minerva, Martha, and Finley. Wakeman and Lurena are buried in Wetona Cemetery, Springfield Twp., Bradford Co., PA. Rebecca Hubbard, b. 12 Dec 1832 in NY; m. abt. 1852 1st Elijah Whiting and had five children (the two I know about are): George Whiting and Alonzo B. Whiting; Rebecca later m. Abraham Prindle Gidley. Between these two marriages, she may have been married to a Mr. Nichols. Rebecca d. 26 June 1903 in Manlius Twp., Allegan Co., MI. Her son, George, gave the information for her death certificate. Elias Hubbard, b. abt. 1834 in NY; m. 1st Harriet "Hattie" Voorhees; one daughter, Harriet Amanda b. abt. 1854 in PA; Hattie is buried in Wetona Cemetery, Springfield Twp., Bradford Co., PA; m. 2nd Luvina Tripp Miller and eventually moved to Ozark Twp., Webster Co., MO. Lovina Hubbard, b. 16 Dec 1836 in NY; d. 26 Dec 1915 in Casco Twp., Allegan Co., MI; buried in McDowell Cemetery; m. William Bailey from Bradford Co., PA. They eventually moved to MI and had the following children: Flora, Judson, Etta, Jennie, Minnie, Fred, Alvin, and Will. Minnie returned to Bradford Co., PA, and married Willard H. Rockwell and raised a family there. The other children remained in MI or moved west. Any information on Marientha Haines and Nehemiah Brainard Hubbard, their children, grandchildren, parents, etc., would be greatly appreciated. I would like to add more information regarding this family to my Brooks Genealogy. I am a descendant of Wakemand Brooks and his 2nd wife, Matilda. Wakeman was Nehemiah Brainard Hubbard's uncle.
