Do you know where Elizabeth Halbert and John H. Dement Married? In the court case, "Joel Halbert's heirs vs Joel Halbert's admist., it names Joel Halbert, II children and son-in-laws. No Elizabeth was mention, but Betsy Halbert was mention and was married to Philimon Higgins. Siblings, Philimon, Albert and Susannah Higgins were married to Joel's children.
Joel Halbert, II was married to Hannah Davis. Daughter of Morgan Davis and Sarah Reed. Sarah Reed information is provide by Reed researchers.
It is also said, that Joel Halbert's first wife was Martha Williams. There seems to be no record of this. It is possible this was a mistake due to the marriage of Joel's nephew, Joel (John son) that married Martha Williams, 12 Nov 1805 in Stokes Co., NC.
It is possible your Elizabeth Halbert was the daughter of a Joel Halbert that was living in Limestone Co., AL during the 1830 census. I been trying to find out if this was, Joel Halbert the third. This family had the following in the household: 1 male 0-4, 2 males 5-9, 2 males 10-14, 2 males 20-30, 1 male 40-50, 1 female 10-15, 3 females, 15-20, and 1 female 40-50. Living next to him, was Joel Halbert, 20-30 and John Halbert, 40-50. Near by was Stephen Halbert, 20-30.
There was a Charles Dement Bishop living near Josiah Higgins in Limestone Co., AL during the early 1850's. Is Charles part of your Dements?? After the death of Josiah Higgins, his wife, Nancy Higgins and children moved to Cherokee Co., TX, prior to 1860 and was living near Stephen Halbert. Josiah Higgins was an sibling of the 3 Higgins mention above.
