The microfilm of 1850 census for this family does show Eliza's children born in AL, but her son Joel F. McMullin on 1860 census was born in TN. Also birthplace of Shadrack Chitwood on 1850 census was VA, and on 1860 it was shown as NC. Don't know where Shadrack was before 1850, except that oldest child by his first wife was born in AR in 1843 or 1844. Was Eliza Halbert's first husband named Thomas McMullin, and was he related to Sarah McMillan(McMullin), of Lincoln Co, TN?

Is Martin Halbert related to William Halbert, b 1794 NC, who married in Lincoln Co, TN, Elizabeth Chitwood, b 1804 TN? Secondary sources show this Elizabeth to be daughter of Pleasant Chitwood & Barbara Barnes of Smith Co, TN, however, descendants think she was the daughter of Edmond Chitwood & Sarah McMillan.
