I have not researched the Halberts that far as they are not my direct line, but are connected to my Vickers family in Sabine Co. Texas early thru Joel Halbert. Joel's daughter Susan married Austin Joshua Vickers of Sabine and the Halbert Cemetery is on the road to San Augustine, Texas. This Halbert family goes back thru Columbus,Miss.(Lowndes Co.),I believe and from there, back to Anderson Co. S.C. and Essex Co. Va. Some of them migrated thru Selma,Alabama also. You might try the Sabine County Historical records and I'm sure someone from that family may have documented the family of Joel Halbert. Courthouse is in Hemphill, but the libraries probably have the early records. Ema Vickers, only daughter of Austin and Susan Halbert received land as a legacy (grand-daughter) in Van Zandt Co. Texas. I have not figured out the connection here tho. Hope this helps you some. Lucy Grisham Vickers- Lewisville, Texas
