John
You seem to be very Knowledgeable about the Halberts.
I am interested in John Halbert who migrated to the Part of Rowan Nc that later became Surry and finally Stokes county NC.

He was the executor of Benjamin Paniel(Pinion)'s will and estate in Surry NC in 1778-1779. William Hill and Robert Hill were witnesses.
I believe that Benjamin Paniels wife Susannah was wither a Hill or a Halbert. I also believe Benjamin Paniel came to Nc with the Hills and Halberts from Caroline or Middlesex Virginia around 1760-1770.

in 1812 several of the Halberts are on a Giles county TN petition with one William Pennell sometiems typed in a index as Purnell.
