Wow. Your posts are outstanding! I am totally impressed, and truly admire your work. As I read through it, I looked for my Martin J. Halbert.

I thought he could be in the line of John Martin Jr. or Joel Halbert (1749). As of yet, I haven't found any data to support this theory. As I understand, his father is probably John.

John had at least 2 children, William and Martin J.

Martin J. abt 1787 NC. He married Susanna Poindexter, bond 25 Sep 1813, Stokes Co, NC. He and Susanna removed to Lincoln Co, TN, where most likely all their children were born, John abt 1825, and the following...

One of their daughters, Emma Rachel, married Shadrack Chitwood (1805), settling in AR. Children; Andrew, William, Joseph and "Joel". Emma died abt 1849, perhaps at the birth of her last child, Joel. Shadrack married abt 1850 to Emma's sister, Elizabeth Chisholm Halbert McMullin, widow, b 8 Jun 1814 TN, d 3 Apr 1867 AR. Their children; Stephen, Mary and David.

Elizabeth also named a child, Joel, from her McMullin marriage. (As I understand the Halbert lineage, Joel was the immigrant.)

Being there are names, Chisholm and Poindexter, as well as both the girl's naming a child Joel, I thought I could find Martin J. Halbert through another route:

Thomas Poindexter married Sarah Veale.

A son of theirs, William 1725- ?, married Elizabeth Chisholm.

A son of theirs, David 1763-1833, married Frances Pope Johnson, she died in Stokes Co, NC.

David and Frances did have a daughter, Susan, as well as, Nancy, Elizabeth, John, George, Hopkins, Joseph, Gabriel and Mary.

Although this maybe the Poindexter line for Susanna, I was aiming for Martin J. Halbert. If you, or someone, could point me in a direction, I would certainly appreciate it.

Thank you again for your sharing. Quite respected.
