Haltom Obits Clark/Dallas Co. AR
I found the following Haltom obituaries in the Southern Standard newspaper in Arkadelphia, (Clark County) AR.Some of these people may be from the surrounding counties of Dallas or Hot Spring.I couldn’t make the connection to my Haltoms yet.Perhaps someone out there knows who they are and can appreciate a bit of poetic license about their ancestors.
Haltom, Issac - on Friday night, died.He was the father of Mr. Elisha Haltom, and aged 68 years., after a lingering illness.(died 1/18/1874)
Halton, Elisha, - an old citizen of this place, died last Saturday, at the residence of J. W. Mackey one mile below town.Mr. Haltom was struck wih a paralytic stroke about nine weeks ago, and since that time has not been conscious and for three weeks had not taken any nourishment.(died 10/02/1892)
Halton, John W. Mrs., -S.A. Haltom was up to see us Tuesday and informed us that his father, John W. Haltom is very sick and that his mother died on Saturday 1 Nov.This was one of our oldest couples. They have raised a large family and have been much beloved in the Joan neighborhood where they lived and in and around Arkadelphia. (died 11/01/1902)
Haltom, John W.- died at his home near Joan, Friday, Nov 28th at 8:30 p.m. in his 73rd year.He had been sick for several months with slow fever, and that together with his general weak condition, caused his death. His remains were buried at Bethlehem cemetery Saturday.Mr. Haltom was born in Tennessee [in 1830] and came to Clark County more than fourty years ago.He had been living near Arkadelphia ever since and has raised a large family, consisting of five sons and three daughters, all of whom are still living.Mrs. Haltom died a month ago and no doubt her death hastened the departure of the devoted husband.(died 11/28/1902).
