Gary,
I do not have a copy of LEONARD CHEATHAM's will....but I found a copy of his widow, ELIZABETH GREEN CHEATHAM's.
And it clearly states that "I give and bequeath unto my Daughter ELIZABETH WILSON one SHilling to her and her heirs forever." [posted wills on Mecklenburg Co., VA, Rootsweb.com/!vameckle/w)cheate.htm]
She also mentions:
(1) son, Samuel Dawson
(2) son, Leonard Cheatham
(3) son, Edward Cheatham
(4) son, James Cheatham's heirs
(5) daughter, Nancy Bouldin
(6) son, Abraham Cheatham
(7) granddaughter, Patsy Cheatham
(8) daughter, Tabitha Wilson
(9) grandson, James Wilson, executor
(10) daughter, Phebe Clay
Dated 16th day of February 1799
Probated at quarterly Court held for Mecklenburg County the 10th day of March 1800.
Mecklenburg CO., VA Marriage Bonds shows:
ELIZABETH CHEATHAM married August 28, 1778, DANIEL WILSON
[FTW CD#229, marriages for Mecklenburg Co.,VA]
Between you and me, I do not understand why people post information and do not give their proof sources. It would save so much time and energy for others.
It seems to me that this will for ELIZABETH GREEN CHEATHAM
would negate the ELIZABETH GILLIAM as being their daughter.
Puzzling that LEONARD CHEATHAM's will says they had a daughter ELIZABETH GILLIAM.
Bob
