You haven't given me any dates or locations as a guide, but I have read message 43 "Finding Haltons in Ireland". I do not have any Michael son of Michael at present in the tree. Working backwards from the great-grandchildren I have only traced one of Michael & Elizabeth's children, i.e. Patrick who had one child John (b1818) who married Julia Ganly in 1838 and had 10 children. Of those 10 children only three (Richard, Patrick and Matthew) had children themselves. Those lines are fairly complete (a few gaps exist in the 20thC in the USA). The other (possible) children of Michael and Elizabeth remain untraced. So may hold a connection?
A cousin who did most of the research in Dublin, states that there were at least two distinct Halton Families, one RC (based Dublin/Westmeath) the other Protestant (based Dublin/Cavan). Betty Lou Garcia (message 1) was researching Cavan Halton's.
Can I also suggest you go to the Rootsweb List at
http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=message&r=rw&p=surnames.halton&m=52 and look at the message lists for HALTON, read the message "My Halton Story" by Robert Halton, your cousin?.
I will keep your details on file just in case the names crop up in my research, but it does seem that unless Ireland manages to recreate it's "lost" records or each branch manages to link back to Michael & Elizabeth nothing will connect. If you wish to see a copy of my tree please contact me with your email address and I will send you the access code to view an online version (excluding living members of the tree).
