I'm sure by now you have the answers to your question but I have just stumbled on your message today and the responses so please bear with me as I try to learn more about your James Kirkendall Hambright.
First of all, I have him as James Kuykendall Hambright. Kuykendall is the correct spelling but Kirkendall is how some people pronounce it.
Pg 190 "History of the Kuykendall Family" by Dr. G. B. Kuykendall published 1919 - A letter from J. (James) Bolivar Scott of Yorkville, York Co. SC to Dr. Kuykendall. The Hambrights and Kuykendalls were related, but I do not know how. But it was handed to me from my grandparents. The father of Fred Hambright, the postmaster, above mentioned (referring to the previous paragraph wherein it is stated "recently postmaster at the Kings Mountain postoffice") was named James Kuykendall Hambright, named after my grandfather, showing some family relationship. Mr. Scott's mother was a Kuykendall..
James Kuykendall Hambright's grandfather on his father's side was Frederick Hambright (1727-1817) wife Sarah Harden.
His grandparents on his mother's side was Hans Peter Eaker (1720-1779/97) wife Anna Barbara.
Thus without saying, I have been unable to identify James Kuykendall Hambright's Kuykendall grandmother or connection to the Kuykendall Family. Can you shed any light on this subject?
James Boliva Scott was the son of James Allen Scott and Rachel Louisa Kuykendall. Rachel was the daughter of
James Hargrove Kuykendall (wife Sarah Althia Clark). James and Sarah "Sallie" Kuykendall would be James Boliva Scott's grandparents.
James Kuykendall Hambright was the son of Major Fredrick Hambright, Jr. and wife Mary Eaker.
Have you found out the connection of James Kuykendall Hambright to the Kuykendall mother?
