I have a copy of a petition by Nancy wife of Captian John Hambright. It is to the commitee on Revolutionary pensions. It is dated April 12, 1842.
It says (in brief)
The evidence of John Harmon and Frederick Hambright, they prove that in the fall of 1779, John Hambright was elected captain, at the age of 18yrs, of a volunteer company of light-horse, raised in Lincoln County, North Carolina. For the term of 12 months. Was present at and engaged in the celebrated battle of Kings Mountain. It gives more details of other things that he did in the war. It also states that Captain John Hambright and Nancy were married in 1784 and Captain John Hambright died 1830.

The author of the book is George Brydes Rodney.
If anyone is interested in a full copy of the petition please let me know.
No kin to me.
Jane.
