Hi Candy, maybe we can help one another.
First, the Hamelins are found in Quebec as early as 1675, and have a rich history. George Amlaw (Hamelin) has posted on his site something I have written:

Now... Two of my grandfather's brothers (Alexandre Hamelin b. 1846, and Joseph b. 1860) settled in Massachusetts in about 1900. But I can find no trace of them. Alex was in Athol, and Joseph in Lynn. As a child, I remember visiting my dad's sister Lilian Hamelin Garrand in Indian Orchard, outside Springfield. She had daughters named Hilda and Iva. You now know as much as I do about my Massachusetts Hamelins. Can we link any dots? -- Joe Hamelin in Riverside CA
