Hi Michelle, you didn't waste any time answering 8-)

I'll start with your last question first.Though I grew up where you could hit the Manchester Library with a rock (on Concord St.,just 2-3 houses away)I haven't been in there for eons. I moved away back in '76 officially.

As far as my lineage goes, working backwards,:

11th gen- Yours truly, Richard Peter Hamelin
10th Gen- Robert Phillippe Hamelin d.1983 (dad)
9th gen- Wilfred Paul Hamelin d. 1944
8th - Ambroise Francois H. d.1932
7th - Paul H d.1917
6th - François-Ambroise H. b.circa 1805 *
5th - Joseph H. II b. sept 1774 *
4th - Joseph François d.1823
3rd - René H. d.1776
2nd - François H. d.1725
1st - Lastly, (or is it firstly?)
Nicolas H. d.before 1679

* I don't have death dates for these 2. My information is from a compilation done by my uncle "Chip"# back in '71

# Correctly my grandfather's [Wilfred P.] brother Ambroise

This list should get you started on who's who. and fwiw, my grandfather's family were from New Bedford MA and there were 8 sons total.

Take care, Rick
