Hi, Michelle! It was just a fluke that I was surfing the Internet tonight looking for Vanasse family pictures. I thought I'd check out GenForum and decided for the heck of it to check the Hamelin forum. Was I surprised to see your message waiting for me --- personally!!!! You're right. I have made leaps and bounds with tracing my ancestry on BOTH sides of my mother's parents families. Boy, you sure must be younger than me because my mother's father's father was Eustache Hamelin, who also went by the name Gus Emblaw. The family name got changed by a census-taker named Matthew Cook in 1906, probably because the family was so illiterate that he had a hard time understanding their Metis pronounciation of Hamelin. Okay - so, Eustache was my great-grandfather and his fourth child, Peter, was my grandfather. What would help me place you better is knowing who your grandparents were. Listen, why don't you e-mail me directly again? Since I last e-mailed you, I switched service providers and my new e-mail address is now phertyl@shaw.ca. I am SOOOOOOOOO looking forward to hearing from you, my dear!
