While in Kentucky, Phillip Hamman Sr., had a son named Valentine (I see that he had a brother-in-law named Valentine) Hamman. I have read what one purist had to say about adding a "d" to the end of the name. That is just what this Valentine Hamman did. For whatever reason. Probably the "e" on the word Valentin occurred the same way.

Valentin or Valentine Hamman or Hammond was born in Kentucky. He married a woman named Mary Alexander. I do not yet find that this couple went to Alabama when Phillip Hamman Sr. went there. However, later they are found in Missouri.

Mary Alexander was the daughter of a Thomas Alexander. Both Mary Alexander Hammond and her husband Valentine Hammond are buried in Hickory county, Missouri.

Mary's family settled in Benton County and perhaps she and Valentine did also. However, the county lines moved so often that the Hammonds are found in Hickory County, Mo, finally.
