John T. Hamman (1843-1920) Brooklny, NY

I have very little information about my grandmother's family and wondered if anyone has any information about the Hamman's from NYC. My grandmother Ethel Adele Hamman and her twin sister Elsie Theodora Hamman were born on March 29, 1896 in Brooklyn, NY. Her father was John Theodore Hamman and her mother was Ethel Hunt Hamman. My grandmother was raised by her grandparents John T. Hamman and his wife Josephine. The only information I have about John T. Hamman is that he fought in the Civil War. Josephine Hamman and John T. Hamman are buried at the Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY. Josephine died in 1928 and John in 1920. I have no information about my grandmother's twin sister except a copy of her birth certificate stating that her married name is Elsie Theodora Schierenbeck, and that she was listed on the 1900 Federal Census at age four, enumerated with the family of John T. and Ethel Hamman in NY. I sent away for my grandmother's birth certificate, but got her twin sister's instead. The only other information I have is a deed to plots in Greenwood Cemetery issued to a Susan J. Hamman.
I do so hope that someone will have some information. Thanks!
