Hi Ken,
Do you descend from this Hamman family? It is one of the few totally unaccounted for Hamman lines in America. There are records in Ruschberg/Baumholder that this Jacob Hamman left there in 1749 with wife and 4 children. There are records here in America, as you pointed out, that this family arrived in 15 Sep 1749. The names of their 4 children at that time were Johann Peter, Johann Fridrich, Johann George, and Christina Magdalena. Christening records for these 4 children are also found in church records for Ruschberg/Baumholder. To my knowledge, no one knows what happened to this family after arriving in America. I am very interested in this family, because my own Hamman line hits a dead-end in around 1772 and we've ruled out any relationship to just about all other Hamman lines present in America at the time of the Revolutionary War, except possibly this one from Baumholder/Ruschberg. Hope to hear from you.
Happy 4th!
Brian Hamman
