March 3, 1854 Jutland, Arhus, Denmark by Judy Costakis of 374 Hi Judy, You mentioned Andrew was born in Arhus, Denmark, yet by the age of 10 he was living in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany? Arhus is not really that close to Schleswig-Holstein. Do you have any idea why his family moved from Arhus to Schleswig-Holstein when he was a small boy? I do know that there is a large Hamann clan in Schleswig-Holstein, so perhaps Andrew was related to them? Of course, that would contradict him having to "escape from the Germans"... Do you know exactly where in Schleswig-Holstein he was living? Finally, are you trying to figure out his ancestry, or are you trying so learn more about what happened to his descendants?
