I am from Sigourney, IA and have a record of the Hammeses back to just before 1800. I am currently compiling and organizing all of my information to display.

Much of the info I have was obtained from a history of Michael Hammes, Jr. (b. 1820, d.1880). This was compiled by Victor Jacobs and I have a copy (with pictures). His father, Michael Sr. married Magdalena Pauly in Perl, Germany.

Some of these ancestors were born in the Trier, Germany area, not far from Perl.
