CAN YOU CONNECT? Nicholas Hayne/Haynes Coosa Co AL 1860
Here's what I have to share:
From the 1860 Coosa County Alabama census-
Nicholas Hayne 44 Shoemaker born in France
married to
Melinda 38 b GA
Children:
Barbara 14 b GA
Male name illegible 13 b GA
Lucinda ? (name mostly illegible) 11 b GA
William 8 b GA
Lawrence 6 b GA
Matthew 4 b GA
Mary 1 b AL
I have not been able to find Nicholas on any 1840, 1850, 1870, 1880 census index for AL, GA, SC, NC, LA, AR.
William and Lawrence appear on the 1880 Pike County Arkansas census.
William A. Haynes b 6/5/1851 (52?) AL on census

Theran Bertrum Fennon Haynes b 10/17/1919
Annie Sue Haynes b 9/7/1923
Patty Jean Haynes b 1/2/1928
William Edward Haynes b 5/13/1931
There was another child listed on the 1910 census -
Frederick Nicholas b 1910 that is somewhat of a mystery to me
William, Letha, and Maryland were orphaned and went to live with Susannah's parents, John Henry Wood and Margaret Jane (Sparks).Susannah's brother Edward Jackson married Eliza Haynes, and when she died, he and his children also lived with John Henry and Margaret Jane.
Later, Edward married Ruth Widener, sister of Josie Amadie (married to William Haynes)
From William A. Haynes forward I am certain of my information, except for William's children from his first marriage.I also truly believe Nicholas is William's father, although census records have birthplaces in AL and Lawrence listed as older in later years.I am searching for information about Nicholas and Melinda and what happened to William and Susannah and why they died so young. The Wood family Bible has much information, but is sadly and obviously lacking information about William and Susannah, although their children's births are recorded there.William only appears on census records (that I can find) for 1860 in AL and 1880 in Pike Co AR.Where was he in 1870 and who was his first wife?
I know that Edward Wood and Eliza Haynes had children, including a beautiful daughter, Ella Tennessee b 1891 d 1933 (have photos of her)and have their names/info if you want them.
I would love to hear from you if you connect to this line and/or have information to share. Please post or email me!Hope to hear from you!
Astrid
