None of the areas that you mention ring a bell but some of the names that you mention do run in my family. There were a number of John Haneys and too many George Haneys to count. My greatgrandfather Haney was named Bazil (or Basil Haney--born 1842 in Greene County to James and Agnes Lam Haney). There is another Bazil or Basil Haney in the late 1700s/early 1800s---think he was an uncle to my Greatgrandfather. He would have lived in Orange County/Greene County---Greene was formed from Orange in 1838.
My earliest Haney ancestor was Jeremiah Haney who appears in Orange County in the mid 1760's...I cannot document where he was prior to this time.Family legend has it that we are Scotch-Irish---I cannot prove it one way or the other since I cannot determine Jeremiah's origin.
Sorry I could not be of more assistance..
