Rod,

Have been chasing my roots back through my mothers side (Hannings) who came to New Zealand from Cloyne Co. Cork Ireland abt 1860 and prior from Somerset.

Found in the Otago Nominal Index which is to be found at HTTP:\\sil.otago.ac.nz the two I was looking for (Thomas Hanning - Waikivi & Michael Hanning - Oamaru) and also a third Robert Hanning - Taieri Mouth (1867-1876).

Can you confirm that this Robert is yours?

Sorry I cannot help with any Scots Hannings unless you know of some connection with the Irish or Somerset
Hannings.

Regards

Terry Chamberlain
