One of the messages on this Hanstein board (I can't find it now) sought information about Johann Ludwich Hanstein.

I found person of same name on list of "Palatines imported on the Ship Marlborough" in 1741. I found this on Olive Tree Genealogy.

I myself am researching the Hansteen family of Denmark and Norway and USA. Bartholemeus Hansteen was a Lutheran Pastor in Denmark in the 1600's. I have been told that the name is of german origin and was probably changed from Hanstein.
I do know that the German Lutheran Church sent missionaries into Denmark when the Danish King and his nobles decided the country would no longer be Catholic. So I guess it makes sense that the family in Germany were Palatines.
