Claus

My mother (Martha Harder) was born in Rendsburg 11 August 1922 to Max Harder and Elsa Japp. Max Harder emigrated to the United States in 1927 and his wife Elsa and daughters (Martha, Paula and Carla) followed in 1928. Martha and Carl Shonk (my parents) moved to Michigan in 1966.

My grandfather Max Fredrick Harder has a brother, Fritz Harder, who has a grandson, Claus Harder.

I know there are many Harders in the Schleswig-Holstein area but I wondered if your grandfather is my grandfather's brother.

Max was born 11 Jan 1893 in Rendsburg, his father is Marx Friedrich Harder and his mother is Caroline Barkowski. Elsa (Japp) Harder's parents are Asmus Heinrich Japp (b 3 July 1874) and Agnes Elisabeth Staeker (b 19 Jan 1875.

I would be very intrested in learning more of the Harder Family Tree as well as more about Schleswig-Holstein. I hope to here from you soon.

Best Regards,

Carl Shonk
