Utica NY pre-1900 Harders with perhaps a brief IL connection

My grandfather Albert Daniel Harder (aka Daniel) b1900d1946. He married Agnes Irene Murphy in 1935 in Utica. They had 6 children.

On a recent trip home I visited the St Agnes cemetary (Utica NY) where my grandfather and various family are buried. I found a tombstone with John Elbert Harder 1863-1943.

John Elbert married Agnes Donovan in 1897 or so. They had Frank, Daniel and Helen, and an infant (John Elbert) who died in infancy.

I am at a loss asto where John Elbert (AKA- Albert- on census info ) comes from. I think I have searched every line on record and eliminated them all from possibility. It is thought he was born in IL before moving to NY. His parents supposedly came from Germany. Any help on this line would be appreciated. Thank you so very much and have a nice day!
