My dad's name was Peter Harder also, but he was born in S.D. and raised in southern MN. I remember some Old Colony Mennonites from Mexico stopping by my dad's gas station during their move from Mexico to Canada (Manitoba) one summer in the early 70's. Dad had no trouble communicating with them in Low German.

I know a number of the German-Russian Mennonites settled in Mexico, but I don't know much about them. If your relatives have some of the common surnames like: Krahn, Epp, Weibe, Heppner, etc., I might be able to help find some of your relatives in the Mid-West.

It would also help to know what Colony he came from in the "Old Country".
