I'm not sure if I can be of any help, but that plantation you're referring to.. the ARP in the equation would be my grandfather's eldest sister.

The last I heard, there is a Frank Harder still operating a plantation (possibly the same land) in Samoa. I may be able to dig around a bit and find someone who would know more about the Frank and John you're inquiring about...
