Peter, Clara, Almora Anna, Walter Gustave & Clara Augusta Harder-San Francisco

Looking for parentage of Peter Harder, married Clara Augusta Placke in 1877 in San Francisco. Peter was born 1852 (per family) in to 1854 per 1900 census. He is a Holstein, Germany (then Denmark) Harder. He opened the 1st hotel on the water in San Francisco, which was called the Clipper Hotel. He died in 1922 in San Francisco and his wife Clara died in 1934. Known children are Almora, Walter & Clara. I couldn't pinpoint him on a ship's list so I don't know when he emigrated. Perhaps he came down from Canada. He's my husband's 2nd gr. grandfather. Any clues would be appreciated.
