Hello Manaia and Ka'lke,

My wife Catherine is related to the Harder family of Samoa. She was born in Pago Pago and taken to New Zealand as a baby in 1942. She is the daughter of Cecelia one of the Harder sisters. She has various photo's of the Harder family including one with her Grandfather (Ka'lke's Great Grandfather)on it.His name we believe to be Henry William Harder. The family picture also shows Grandmother Elizabeth and all eight children (7 girls) from that marriage. Most of my aunts went to and settled in NZ, though Helene went the USA and the boy, Benjamen settled in Samoa marrying a Marie Arps who also had a German father. My wife new all the aunts in NZ but never met Aunty Helene, but is now in touch with her eldest daughter Rosemary ( her cousin) in USA. She did not meet Uncle Ben but has met two of his children, cousins Johanna(Tia) and Lillian both living in Samoa. She has photos of the war memorial in Apia which show your grandfathers name Frank, brother John and another boy Peter, who may have been an elder boy to my grandmother? When my wifes mother passed away she found scraps of paper from other aunts which showed that they were very much in touch with Frank, John and Peter. Look forward to your responses and we could probably email photos if you are interested?

Bye for now
Ron & Catherine
