There were a lot of Benjamin Hargrave and Lemuel Hargrave in 17th and 18th century Surry County, Virginia. My records show the following;
Lemuel Hargrave, ca.1669-1742 and Elizabeth Cornwell, ca.1670-bef.1740, did have a son Benjamin born about 1695 and died 1739 Bertie County, North Carolina. It is believed that he never married and had no children.
Bray Hargrave, ca.1667-1728 and Mary Hodge, 1677-ca.1745 also had a son Benjamin, born about 1695 and he married Martha _____ about 1713 in Surry County, Virginia. Bray was a brother to Lemuel above and Bray also had a son Lemuel.
Benjamin and Martha _____ Hargrave had a son Benjamin Jr., 1714-1781, who married Lucy _____ about 1732 Surry County, Virginia.
Benjamin and Lucy _____ Hargrave had a son Benjamin III, 1741-aft.1818, who married Rebecca Gwaltney about 1762 in Surry County, Virginia. They later moved to North Carolina and then to Louisiana.
The 1695 dates are estimates and could be off by 2 or 3 years, but are believed to be very close to correct and are just coincidental that both Benjamin Hargrave were born in about the same time period of 1694-1696.
