John Hargrove and Silvia Harris

Some years ago I posted about this subject and at that time was confused about Silvia. Later I found proof that she married first Elias Harris. After his death [between ]she married John Hargrove and after Hargrove's death [doumented in Davidson County, TN, as between September 21 - December 31, 1798]she married Benjamin Whitehead.

Unfortunately a mistake was made when the information concerning the marriage of Benjamin Whitehead in Davidson County in 1800. The original record is a marriage bond issued to Benjamin to marry "Silvy" Hargrove. When the record was copied into the marriage book [many years after the fact] the clerk read the name as Sally. It is plainly Silvy on the original bond.

A record from Halifax County, deed books identifies Silvia, widow of Elias Harris, as having married second John Hargrove and third Benjamin Whitehead of Montgomery Co., TN.

This website documents the three husbands of Silvia Chambliss.
