Noreen,
I apologize, I wasn't very clear in my previous post.
James Harker (b. June 29, 1774, Sussex County, New Jersey, d. June 26, 1849, Harker Corners, Illinois) and Mary McColoum (married on December 10, 1796 in New Jersey) had three daughters:Sarah (b. 1797), Hannah (b. 1800) and Elizabeth (b.1802).All three daughters were born in New Jersey, and all three married and have many descendants.
So it would appear that you and I are distant cousins.
The following is from "The Harker-Higley Ancestry", by Margaret Pfeiffer Brown, self-published 1913, Peoria, Illinois:
"Sarah Harker, first child of James and Mary McColom Harker, was born in New Jersey in 1797.Her marriage to George Griggs took place in Cayuga County, New York, about 1816.With her husband and family of six children, she came with her father and his family, to Illinois in 1829.Their home was on what was known as Pennsylvania Ridge, about ten miles west of Harker's Corners.
"Their children were, Harvey, James, Puella, Franklyn, Mary, Jeremiah, Asenath, Susan. They lived the hard life of the early pioneers, reared their family, and passed away, leaving a good name to a large number of interesting descendants.Mr. Griggs died in 1849.His wife died in 1875.Both are buried in Harker's Corners Cemetery."
Following that are many pages of her descendants through 1913.There is also a picture of her that I will attempt to scan if you like, however, the book is over 90 years old and I can't risk damaging it.
Hannah's married names were Harrington (widowed) and McCoy.Elizabeth's married name was Mead.
I'm trying to find anything that will confirm or contradict that Joseph Harker was married to Mary Walling. That would extend that part of the family tree another two generations to Joseph Walling Jr. and the Senior Joseph Walling.
I hope that helps. If you need more information, please feel free to send an email.
