My husband and I went camping this weekend in Palmetto Cove, Cleveland, SC. and there is a small cemetary there... In there we found 3 distinct headstones, and some standing rocks that look like they could have been grave markers. 2 of the headstones were readable at least to a certain extent: John Harkins who was born ? July 1809 and died ? July 1850 and then there was : Rachel Harkins who was born in Feb ? and died the same year 1850, there was a small headstone but the markins were all gone, might have been a child. I was just curious who these people are and how they died, was there an epidemic? seemed strange that both husband and wife died the same month and year.If anyone know what circumstances lead to their death, please contact me.
