Octavia Harkins was born in 1852. Her parents, George H Harkins and Lettitia Miller were both born in 1830. Lettitia Harkins died in Kanawha County, West Virginia in April 1880. Octavia had a sister, Mary, born in 1854 and a brother Welly born in 1857.
George H Harkins is the son of George Harkins and Narcississ Merritt of Rockbridge County, Virginia. George was born about 1790 in Pennsylvania. His wife, Narcissus was born about 1800 in Botetourt County, VA. George and Narcississ had five sons and daughters, all born in Rockbridge County. Most of the family moved to Kanawha County, WV after 1840.
