Hey James. Not sure if I can help you. My Harkins family came to Texas in the mid 1800's. My oldest known ancestor, William Harkins, moved from South Carolina to Geogia and lived there for years before he ever went to Texas. You might look into the Hugh and Elizabeth Harkins family of South Carolina. You can google them, there's been alot of research on them. They came from Ireland and settled all over S.C. You might be a descendant of them. Just did a quick search on ancestry.com and found an 1880 census of Oconnee, S.C. There's an 11 year old Dennis living there, his parents are listed as James and Mary E. Harkins. James is from Ireland and his date of birth is around 1820. Couldn't find anything on an Archibald.
