I start with Hugh (b1725) and Elizabeth Harkins arriving in SC in 1767. It is possible that Walter Harkins was their son (there is some dispute about that). Walter Harkns born 7-25-1776 in Wake Co NC, married Johanna Stewart (born 1-31-1777)then migrated to TN then Fayette Co AL. Had among others a son Andrew (b10-16-1802 in Jackson Co GA)who married Christian M Smith (1807-1847). They had a son Walter R Harkins (1837)who married Virginia Temperance Sexton (b4-5-1846). They had a son Walter Williamson Harkins, who married Ella Rachel Townsend (had a daughter Stella Mae among others. That Walter married again to Ida C Campbell, and had a son among others Sammy Harkins, still living in Birmingham. Stella Mae married Jesse W. Thrasher, they moved to GA, Atlanta area. They had 4 children, one being Mary Nell Thrasher. Mary married John W Johnson and moved to Augusta GA. They had 3 sons, one being Stephen Walter Johnson, my husband.

I know that many Harkins migrated from Fayette Co AL to the Hutto area in Texas. Each generation had many children. I have an extended list on paper. but it was the 1776 Walter that started the movement to AL.
