Actually I'm looking for John Harley. I don't believe his middle initial was "B" but "I". The "B" is only found in Prince's book, "Let's Meet the Livingstons." I have a number of legal documents with the initial "I." Also, after doing research, I believe he was born in 1925 - not 1928 and was the oldest son of William Allen Deas and Elizabeth Harley. His wife was Mary Ann Mahala Bullock Harley. John was a wife abuser and left for Alabama shortly after Mahala died, leaving their two sons with their maternal grandmother to raise. I believe John took his slave, Rachel, with him and her children (who were probably fathered by John. They are listed in the 1870 census in Rutledge, AL. He is listed here as John "L." (Most of the time I think he only went by the name John without initials--like his grandfather John Livingston.)
I think he came back to SC before 1880 and died and is buried in his family's plot which has the footstone initials of "JIH." Would like to find some of the seven Mulatto children of that John and Rachel apparently had.
Let me know if you have any information or leads to help me with this story. John was my gr gr grandfather.
