I have not written to you in a while. Since I last wrote to you I have met up with a Harmer Genealogist from Ottawa and been in contact with one from England. I believe either of them may have more information for you or you them. I found my information on my line.
Samuel Harmer born c1761 and Catherine Ollis/Olly/Olley bonr c. 1765 Upper Sheringham England.
Their daughter Violet born 2/8/1791 Bodham England had a illegimate daughter Dinah who was the mother of my Thomas.
Violet later married a William Wagg bonr 2/1792 in Briningham, England. Violet and William emigrated to Ontario Canada about 1856 adn are buried in Goodwood, Ontario Canada. Dianah had two illegimate sons one being my Thomas and the other named William.
Dinah bonr 4/23/1807 in Upper Sherringham England married a William Pitcher bonr Norfolk England. They emigrated to Canada in 1836, twenty years before her mother and ? father. I found Dianah buried with her husband William Pitcher in the Eel Weir Cemetary in the town of Oswegatchie, St. Lawrence county NY. She is listed as Dianah Wagg Pitcher. Her second son has been listed as William Harmer and has been listed as William Pitcher. This William was born 8/31/1834 in Hunsworth England. Is he your William???. Their children have some very common given names as my line does.
I have found my Harmers often mingling with the Dane/Dean, Conklin, Groat/Grout/Goit family lines of mine. My Dane/Dean line is Scottish but migrated from Ireland in the mid 1830's. Whether they had common roots or whether common issues of the times is unproven at this point. Many of these family lines have married into each other and all descend to me via either of my parents lines. The other surname who migrated from Ireland to Canada is my Finley line. This line equally married in the Harmer line. If you would like the emails of my Canadian and England resourse I will share with you just let me know.
