John Thomas Harrigan b. 1890 of Brooklyn, New York
My father's roots are hard to discover as there has been a lot of sadness on that side of my family. My father was taken from his parents as they were deemed unfit and was raised along with his brothers in an home for boys in Spring Valley, NY.
I believe my grandfather's name was George Herman Harrigan b. 1914 in Brooklyn, New York. Hew was born a twin (died very young) and although he contracted scarlet/rhuematic fever and survived, he remained sickly thereafter and his suffering led him to commit suicide. It George's father who is mentioned in the subject header.
My great grandfather John Thomas and he was married to woman by the name of Mary Brecht b. 1895 in New York. The few census' I could find listed JT's employment as an Ironworker. He and Mary had 4 living children named George (my grandfather), Frances (nickname: Tootsie), Walter (n: Buddy) and Henry (n: Hank).
I believed Frances and Henry both married. I think I met them once, but I was very young and I remember next to nothing about them. I do not know if they are dead or if they had any children. We mainted a relationship with who Walter married a woman named Olga (no children) but they died when I was in my teens and they did not talk much about the family.
This timeline is to meant to be used as an identifier. If you think we are related please contact me. My goal is to find some happiness about my unhappy family who I know so little about. I would like to know who John Thomas's parents were and if there are any other decendants of his daughter Frances or his youngest son Henry that might be able to give me some assistance.
Many thanks!
