James Harrison (b. 1730s) of Churchill, County Monaghan, Ireland
Dear family members,
My cousins and I have put together a list of the children of James Harrison of Churchill. If you use any of the following material, please cite me as the ifnormation changes daily.James was born in County Monaghan, Ireland, and through his first wife, _- Dun(n) acquired the sublease on Churchill from Arthur Noble who leased from Lord Blaney. (Andrea of New Zealand. She uses the Memoirs of William Harrison of Mangapai, New Zealand.
James married 3-4 times and had 12 sons and 2 daughters.I have searched high and low, mostly low, for the names of these children and information about them. Here are 10 sons and one daughter. Please, write me about more information on any one of these people. All would have been born in Churchill is my GUESS.
1.William Harrison (1761-1826 New York City). He did not marry and we assume had no children.
2. John Harrison (about 1762/1764-1817).He lived his whole life in Ireland. He had a son, Arthur Noble Harrison, same name as John's brother.
3.Thomas Harrison (about 1764/1766) had many descendants in New York City. His children were Colonel James Harrison of NYC, Hugh Harrison of Drumakill, William Graham Harrison of NYC, Ann Harrison who married Robert Wallace and had links to Anyart church (Rev. Josiah or Josias Mitchell), and had two Wallace sons who came to the U.S.More children of Thomas Harrison were "Red John" Harison or just plain John Harrison, and George Harrison.
4.James Harrison (1767/1778-1849) married Elizabeth Kinnier (1774/1795-1869).They had several sons who did not have children (William, James, Joseph, and George). They also had a son John who married Letitia Mitchell and stayed in Ireland.Their daughters were Elizabeth Harrison who married John Kinnier, Jane Harrison who married Theron Grant, Mary Jane Harrison who remained single, and Nancy Harrison who married Hugh Garmonie Crozier.I believe taht these were the natural daughters of James and Elizabeth and that the girls all changed their ages to appear younger. They were born to their mother during years she was abel to have children and not a decade or so later.I believe Elizabeth was the only wife of James.
5.a Hugh Harrison is related to this family, but I do not know how.He may have been the father of Francis Harrison of County Armagh.
6.Joseph Harrison (about 1776-1844) of Smithville, New York.In Ireland he married Margaret Anderson. They had children Susan (single), William A. Harrison or William Harrison, a grocer in NYC who married Isabella Graham, James Joseph Harrison, Joseph H, Harrison of Greene, New York, Andrew Harrison who married Jane Forbes, and John Harrison who married Sarah Ann Harrison and adopted Charles and Mary Ann.

8.Samuel Harrison (about 1779-1835) of Smithville, Chenango County, New York. His wife was Elizabeth Sturgeon.Their children were Deacon James Harrison, Margaret Harrison who married Ananias Jamison, Samuel Harrison, William Harrison who married Jane Wilson, Arthur Harrison who married Mary Ann Wilson, Andrew Harrison (died young), Ann Harrison who married William Wilson, and Elizabeth Harrison.(All Samuel harrison information is from Patricia Whitaker.)
9.Mary Harrison (about 1782, died before 1860 census) married Alexander Hutchinson of Dunaree, County Caan, Ireland (1775-1848).They had 11 children, most (or all?) born in Ireland.Any Hutchinson from Argyle, Washington County, New York, might be related to this family.Descendants include Hutchinson, Adams, Scholl, Hanna, and Ferguson.
10.George Harrison (about 1782-1870) stayed in Ireland, near Castleblayney. He married Margaret McBirney.Children included James G. Harrison who married Margaret Scott, Sarah Ann Harrison who married two first cousins both Deacon James Harrison and John Harrison.More children of George are Mary Harrison born 1831 and Mary Harrison born 1833.More are Jane Harrison who married William Brown, Martha Harrison married John English, Andrew Harrison, and Olivia Harrison who married John W. Hayes (Olivia died in U.S.)
11.Arthur Noble Harrison (about 1783/1786-1854).Arthur may have married twice or just once.No idea of name of first wife, though this family has a gazillion Letitia and some "Dawson".Children by I presume first wife are Margaret Harrison who married George Foyle, Richard Harrison of Smithville or Greene, New York, who married Mary Scriber, Jane Harrison who married Matthew Lyons and had Arthur, Matthew, and Richard A. Lyons.More children of Arthur include Elizabeth E. or J. Harrison who married John Cooper McFadden (Margi Breunle supplied "Cooper.")Arthur's second wife Jane had Sarah Ann Harrison who married Isaac P. Harrison who married Eveline Marie, also William Robert Harrison who married Margaret E. MacKenzie and had Georgianna, John, Edward Kate, and Margaret Harrison.Arthur and Jane Harrison further had Rebecca Harrison who married Murthur or Murtha and may have had Arthur N. Murtha.
12.Andrew Harrison (about 1792-1849)He is buried in Greenwood Cemetery or Green-wood Cemetery in Brooklyn.
13.Mrs. William Monahan, do not know where lived, possibly near New York City.I beleive she had no children who survived into 1900, no heirs.
This whole Harrison family used Greenwood lots 3690 through 3697.
