Blockbuster News: We are delighted to announce that a descendant of American Immigrant Patriarch John Harrod (1700 Bedfordshire - 1754 PA) has just submitted his testkit with the Harwood Family History Y-DNA Study.
Already we have 12 Harwood-variation tests reported so far, presenting seven distinct lines in four subgroups that a new tester can match with, including an R1b1 Harrod and an R1b1 Herod, plus two more tests now processing.
We would like to find out whether John Harrod's line is related to other important Harrod lines, such as the Harrod lines of KY and PA, and if so, how long ago (how many generations ago) their Most Recent Common Ancestor was alive. So our investigation needs tests from other Harrod lines, particularly the PA and Harrodsburg KY lines.
The cheek swab test is very easy and quick -- comes in the mail -- three swabs at 60 seconds each -- no blood involved -- no medical information recorded or reported -- using the leading testing company with by far the largest databank. The Y-DNA test is on the male Y-chromosome, so it requires a male with the Harrod/Harwood surname. Any female Harrod descendant and any male descendant not having the Harrod surname can participate by encouraging a male Harrod-surname brother, uncle, cousin, etc. to test.
We hope to start recruiting other tests in key locations in England in the next six months, and we hope you and your tester can join us for the fun. It's Cold Case Files science applied to your own Harrod family history tracing.
The newer 37-marker and 67-marker tests are so powerful and can reach so far back into Harrod family history, they can trace your line all the way back to Eurasian Adam. To learn more about the potential and power of Y-DNA testing for your Harrod family history tracing, please email me with any questions you might have, and check out our extensive website at
